Details of the post
Members of Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association UK from Wandsworth, Putney, Roahampton and Wimbledon are expecting to raise thousands for Royal British Legion.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association UK (AMEA UK) is pleased to announce the 2018 Poppy Appeal Campaign Launch, taking place across the United Kingdom.

This year hundreds of volunteers from The AMEA UK, through their charity “CHARITY WALK FOR PEACE” are looking to raise a staggering ½ million pounds by selling poppies door to door, through stalls at local supermarkets and at train stations to raise funds for Poppy Appeal throughout the country.

Every penny raised goes to the charity.

The Deputy Mayor of Wandsworth Borough Council, Councillor Mrs Jane Cooper launched the campaign here at Southfields underground Station on Saturday the 27thOctober at 11:00am. She said,
“I am actually delighted to be here with my friends from Ahmadiyya Community.. …..you are very much part of the community and do so much and I am so pleased to be with you to launch the poppy appeal.”

Councillor Guy Humphries also joined the Ahmadiyya Community at thelaunch and said,
“it is absolutely incredible, it is amazing how you done so well and the efforts of the organisation to achieve this can’t be under estimated , it’s such a good cause and your support won’t be forgotten…”

At East Putney underground Station, Justine Greening MP launched the campaign at 1:00pm, she said,
“first of all it is really important year 2018, its obviously centenary of First World War finishing, I think it’s fantastic the Ahmadiyya Community does these poppy appeal stalls all over the place, it’s not just over here in East Putney but I think the chance to raise money for a brilliant cause and to do what you are doing, I love it, so I thought I should come down to support you and to say best of luck.”

Jstine, very graciously, went further on to support us and stayed there for a while and sold poppies to commuters.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association UK’s Poppy Appeal campaign is linked to its annual Charity Walk for Peace where hundreds of thousands of pounds are raised for UK charities every year. To date, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association UK Poppy Appeal has raised an incredible £350,000 through hundreds of man hours by its members volunteering across the UK.

Hisholiness Hazrat Mirza Masoor Ahmad (May Allah be his Helper), Khalifa of Islam Said,

“ Muslims are obliged to be loyal to the country in which they live, honouring those who fought to defend and safeguard ones country is an important principle of Islam and in fact, is an important Principle of peace - especially when it is carried out with a sincere heart and for the sake of winning God’s pleasure”.

Mr. Mehmood Ahmad, AMEA UK’s Regional Poppy Appeal Coordinator, said:

“AMEA UK are committed to serving humanity and are committed to fundraising efforts throughout the year for hundreds of UK based charities. One of the highlights of the year is the annual Poppy Appeal that not just AMEA UK, but all auxiliaries of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community UK take an active part in at this time of year. It’s a wonderful opportunity to help those who served their country so that we may live in peace and furthermore it is an opportunity to remember those who lost their lives during the World Wars.”

The AMEA, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association UK and CWFP, Charity Walk for Peace, work together to raise funds for the Poppy Appeal.

Mr Ahmad Ahsan, Regional Coordinator for CWFP, said

“Islam teaches that half of your faith is loyalty to your nation and thus bearing in mind, as Muslims, we should strive to serve our nation in any way, shape or form.”

Our volunteers will fundraise on our high streets, supermarkets, rail and tube stations and at various football stadiums. This is a long running, nationwide initiative by the AMEA in contributing to the community in different ways such as feeding the homeless, charity walks, tree planting and interfaith meetings just to name a few.

He further mentioned that

Hisholiness Hazrat Mirza Masoor Ahmad (May Allah be his Helper), Khalifa of Islam Said,

“ Muslims are obliged to be loyal to the country in which they live, honouring those who fought to defend and safeguard ones country is an important principle of Islam and in fact, is an important Principle of peace - especially when it is carried out with a sincere heart and for the sake of winning God’s pleasure”.

Keeping the above quote at the forefront of our vision, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association is proud to be partners with the Royal British Legion in raising funds for those who served on the front line in defending our freedom.

Mr. Mehmood Ahmad, AMEA UK’s Regional Poppy Appeal Coordinator, said:

We were at Wembley Park station on 28th and 29th October for Poppy collection covering two major events. On 28th NFL American football and on 29th Premium League. It was a very successful event. There were around 10 volunteers present. We had a great response from the crowd. The underground staff and police at Wembley Park station were very helpful and cooperative. The police even helped us in our collection.
